A Season of Prayer
A time of prayer for all who call Brougham Place Uniting Church their spiritual home.
The Brougham Place Uniting Church congregation has been through a careful process of discernment. We gathered for a Congregation Meeting on Sunday 27 September.
Our careful process of discernment has been around the three options of Stay, Stay and Share, and Go and Relocate.
At the Congregational Meeting, following prayer, discussion and some amendments a number of proposals were agreed by consensus.
These included:
– A vote of thanks to Carolyn Kitto, Consultant (Spirited Consulting); the Consultation Reference Group, and Wimala Presbytery
– To not pursue GO & RELOCATE
– To continue to pursue STAY and STAY & SHARE
-That the Brougham Place Church Council conduct a mission funding programme during November 2026 to seek contributions from within the congregation and its diaspora in order to consolidate its ministry and mission budget for 2027 and beyond
with three focus areas: Mission and Ministry; Property Priorities; Establishing a Capital fund.
Thank you to everyone for your prayers through our season of discernment and thank you to all those who put in so much time and effort and love in to preparing the Congregation for our meeting last Sunday.
We continue to pray: for renewed strength for all those continuing the work that has already begun. For each of us as we prayerfully consider how we will join in God’s mission through Brougham Place Uniting Church.
“For over 165 years Brougham Place has been a “Light on the Hill.” We are a community of hope and caring that has passed faith from generation to generation, standing for justice, truth, equality, compassion, grace and love.
We are a welcoming and inclusive community of people dedicated to following in the Way of Christ. We seek to embody and share the love of Christ in all that we say and do.”
May we continue to hold to that vision and be beacons of light and hope in a fast-changing world.
Isaiah 43:18-19
| Do not remember the former things or consider the things of old. I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth; do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. | Don’t revel only in the past, or spend all your time recounting the victories of days gone by. Watch closely: I am preparing something new; it’s happening now, even as I speak, and you’re about to see it. I am preparing a way through the desert; Waters will flow where there had been none. |
