Preacher: Rev Dr Steven Koski (by video)
All Saints’ Day. Stewardship 3. White
Welcome to Brougham Place Uniting Church.
We acknowledge the Kaurna people as the traditional carers of the land
on which our church is built.
As you wait for worship to begin, please turn your phone to silent.
Naa marni (Are you all
good?)
Marni Ai! (Good I
am)
Timeless God,
we come to you in this moment,
in this place.
We take our place in the great community of faith.
God of the past,
we come before you with all we have been,
all the joys and struggles that make us who we are today.
We bring our history, our baggage, our memories.
God of the future,
we gather together with all we hope for,
our dreams and visions
that keep us travelling forward.
We lift to you the unknown which lies ahead of us.
With all we are, help us to be present to you and to each other in
this time of worship.
Amen.
Loving God,
as we gather to remember and celebrate
the breadth, depth, and height of the community of faith,
we are deeply aware that you are the God
of yesterday, tomorrow, and today.
We see your face in the new saplings
bursting from the soil, and in the trunks
of ancient trees that have observed decades of life.
We feel your presence in the gentle breeze
that moves and swirls and in the earth
beneath our feet, a solid place to stand.
In you, O God, we find our healing of the past,
our longings for the future,
and our peace in the present.
Amen.
Gracious God,
we come to you with our brokenness and frailties.
When we have failed to remember that we are part of
a community and tried to walk the path of life alone.
God, remind us of our need for one another.
When we see our opinions as right
and dismiss those who are different to us.
God, remind us of our need for one another.
When we are quick to listen to those who look and think the
same,
but do not listen to the quiet voices or the voices of dissent.
God, remind us of our need for one another.
When we become complacent in our comfortable ways
at the expense of those who have different needs.
God, remind us of our need for one another.
When our eyes are closed to the oppressed and marginalised
because we would rather not feel helpless or hopeless.
God, remind us of our need for one another.
Amen.
We are born into this world to be in relationship,
with our God,
with our loved ones,
with our communities.
God’s grace abounds in these spaces.
May we know the grace and the peace of the living Christ in our
lives today.
Amen.
Tune: Together in Song 92
Refrain:
Let us bring the gifts that differ
And, in splendid, varied ways,
Sing a new church into being,
One in faith and love and praise.
Let us bring the gifts that differ
And, in splendid, varied ways,
Sing a new church into being,
One in faith and love and praise.
Let us bring the gifts that differ
And, in splendid, varied ways,
Sing a new church into being,
One in faith and love and praise.
Let us bring the gifts that differ
And, in splendid, varied ways,
Sing a new church into being,
One in faith and love and praise.
Let us bring the gifts that differ
And, in splendid, varied ways,
Sing a new church into being,
One in faith and love and praise.
May the grace and peace of our God be with you all.
And also with you.

Children and Young People may go downstairs for Sunday School and Youth. Parents, you are welcome to join your child in Sunday School if you feel your child may need your assistance. Alternatively, you may wish for your child to remain with you for the duration of worship. Activity packs are available at the entrances.
In Christ we have also obtained an inheritance, having been destined according to the purpose of him who accomplishes all things according to his counsel and will, so that we, who were the first to set our hope on Christ, might live for the praise of his glory. In him you also, when you had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and had believed in him, were marked with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit; this is the pledge of our inheritance toward redemption as God’s own people, to the praise of his glory.
I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints, and for this reason I do not cease to give thanks for you as I remember you in my prayers, that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you a spirit of wisdom and revelation as you come to know him, so that, with the eyes of your heart enlightened, you may perceive what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance among the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his great power. God put this power to work in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the age to come. And he has put all things under his feet and has made him the head over all things for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.
From this shines forth the Word of God.
Thanks be to God.

The children and youth return during the following hymn and are invited to sit with their families.
In a church that’s moving forward,
this is where we long to be.
in a church with gifts abounding
and the grace to set them free.
in a church of many cultures,
in a church both old and young,
in a church of many accents
when the song of Christ is sung.
With a Lord who leads the mission
for a people on the way,
with a Lord who’s healing blindness,
lets the voiceless have their say.
with a Lord of every nation,
with a Lord of every place,
with a Lord who shines compassion
on to every tribe and race.
On a road that leads to wholeness
When we’re broken or unsure,
On a road to understanding
Where division finds a cure;
On a road where all may travel,
On a road where many roam,
On a road we walk together,
As we make our journey home.
Let us give our thanks to God:
May God be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts!
We lift them up to our God.
Let us give thanks to God our Creator.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
We praise you, all-holy God…
…we bless and praise your glorious name, saying:
Holy, holy, holy God of all that is,
all that was, and all that will be.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory,
Hosanna in the highest.
We praise you, all-holy God,
today, tomorrow, and forever. Amen!
Let us pray together in the words that Jesus taught us:
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name,
your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in Heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen.

Generous God,
You are the source of every good gift, and we praise you for all your
blessings, including our time, our skills, our passions, our resources
and our money. We thank you for entrusting us with these gifts and for
calling us to be responsible stewards.
Holy Spirit, come… fill our hearts with gratitude, bless us with wisdom, and inspire us to be generous with all we have to offer.
Help us to manage our time with purpose, use our talents for your glory, and share our financial resources freely with love for our neighbours.
We commit ourselves to serving you, living as grateful and generous disciples.
Take the offerings and the responses we have
brought
and take our lives,
that we may be your peace, your joy, and your
love
in our community and in the world.
Through Jesus Christ, we pray.
Amen.
The children and youth may head back downstairs as we sing our final hymn
Together in Song 411
Filled with the Spirit’s power, with one accord
the infant church confessed its risen Lord:
O Holy Spirit, in the church today
no less your power of fellowship display.
Now with the mind of Christ set us on fire,
that unity may be our great desire:
give joy and peace; give faith to hear your call,
and readiness in each to work for all.
Widen our love, good Spirit, to embrace
in your strong care all those of every race:
like wind and fire with life among us move
till we are known as Christ’s, and Christians prove.
As we go from this place
enfolded by the love of saints past and present,
may we know the blessings of God,
Creator, Sustainer, and Spirit
each step of the way.
Amen.
Come and share morning tea together, in the basement. There are stairs behind the organ and a ramp between the church and the car park. All are welcome!
Thank you for joining us for worship!
