We acknowledge the Kaurna people as the traditional carers of the land on which our church is built.
As you wait for worship to begin, please turn your phone to silent.
Naa marni? (Are you all
good?)
Marni Ai! (Good I
am)
We care for Kaurna land,
We care for Kaurna sky.
We care for Kaurna waters,
We touch our hearts and say:
Thank you, Kaurna people.
As Pants the Hart for Cooling Streams
We gather as God’s community, whether individually or together,
for we are the Body of Christ.
We come, just as we are
to worship our God.
We come as part of a community,
to learn and grow together.
We bring our diverse gifts, skills, and talents,
to build each other up in love.
There are different ways of serving God:
but it is the same Lord who is served.
God works through people in different ways:
but it is the same God whose purpose
is achieved through us all.
Together we are the body of Christ:
and individually members of it.
So, come, let us worship the one who loves us and calls us to be
here.
Jesus put this song into our hearts,
Jesus put this song into our hearts,
it’s a song of joy no-one can take away:
Jesus put this song into our hearts.
Jesus taught us how to live in harmony,
Jesus taught us how to live in harmony;
different faces, different races, he made us one:
Jesus taught us how to live in harmony.
Jesus taught us how to be a family,
Jesus taught us how to be a family,
loving one another with the love that he gives:
Jesus taught us how to be a family.
Jesus turned our sorrow into dancing,
Jesus turned our sorrow into dancing,
changed our tears of sadness into rivers of joy
Jesus turned our sorrow into a dance.

God of great compassion,
we have heard and inherited all kinds of stories
about who we are and who others might be.
We have allowed some of these stories
to create distance between ourselves and others.
Forgive us, God, for forgetting how connected we truly are.
God embraces us.
God forgives us.
God includes us.
Friends in Christ, we are loved and forgiven!
Thanks be to God!
The peace of our God be with you.
And also with you.

God Be in My Head
Now before faith came, we were imprisoned and guarded under the law until faith would be revealed. Therefore the law was our disciplinarian until Christ came, so that we might be reckoned as righteous by faith. But now that faith has come, we are no longer subject to a disciplinarian, for in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. As many of you as were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is no longer Jew or Greek; there is no longer slave or free; there is no longer male and female, for all of you are one in Christ Jesus. And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s offspring, heirs according to the promise.
From this shines forth the Word of God.
Thanks be to God.
(Tune: TiS 497 Picardy)
God of freedom, God of justice,
God whose love is strong as death,
God who saw the dark of prison,
God who knew the price of faith;
touch our world of sad oppression
with your Spirit’s healing breath.
Rid the earth of torture’s terror,
God whose hands were nailed to wood;
hear the cries of pain and protest,
God who shed the tears and blood;
move in us the power of pity,
restless for the common good.
Make in us a captive conscience
quick to hear, to act, to plead;
make us truly sisters, brothers
of whatever race or creed;
teach us to be fully human,
open to each other’s need.

God, you are the great Way Maker,
and so we come to you,
not knowing how,
but still bringing our prayers
for peace and restoration
in our lives and in the world.
Bring comfort and connection
to all of us who know loneliness.
We especially think of those
who long for human connection
but are struggling with the capacity to connect.
Make it easy for people—
send your angels where they’re needed
and give us a tap on the shoulder
or a nudge in our hearts
when we might be that for others.
Bring peace and restoration, Way Maker God.
God of justice and compassion,
help us to see the parts of our society
that make people sick.
Help us to see the big cracks and gaps
that too many slip through.
Help us to understand the processes
and inequities
that contribute to marginalisation.
Trample oppression, God!
Bring justice and integrity, Way Maker God.
God of deep joy,
we also give thanks for all the helpers,
especially those who have no real idea
of what will make a difference,
but are jumping in anyway
with cords of human kindness.
Bless the helpers and these acts of kindness, Way Maker
God.
God of community,
We give thanks for the Uniting Church:
48 years old today.
We are grateful for those who came before us
and for all who lead the way.
As we look to the future,
we pray for a deep sense of unity
as we journey together,
following your way of truth and justice,
embodying your love and grace.
With Christ as our Centre
and Spirit as our Guide,
help us face the challenges to come
in an ever changing world.
Bless your Church, the Uniting Church, Way Maker
God.
And so we thank you, Way Maker God,
that you hear our prayers.
In the name of Christ, we pray,
Amen.
And now with the confidence of the children of God, let us pray the prayer Jesus taught us saying…
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name,
your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in Heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen.
