Preacher: Ms Emelia Haskey
Pentecost 6. Green
We acknowledge the Kaurna people as the traditional carers of the land
on which our church is built.
As you wait for worship to begin, please turn your phone to
silent.
Naa marni? (Are you all good?)
Marni Ai! (Good I am)
For the Kaurna country
we meet on today,
We give thanks.
For the elders and communities –
past, present, and future –
who walk these lands,
We pay our respects.
Leave duty behind,
come and sit,
be still and listen for the word of God.
Leave busyness,
anxiety and worry at the door,
enter this peaceful place,
allow yourself to relax
and prepare for worship.
Let go and come to the quiet centre,
here is a place and time to focus on God
and to allow ourselves to hear God’s voice
and ponder God’s word.
Friends, come and worship together.
Creator God,
you welcome us into your home.
You receive us and serve us,
and we receive your grace.
You sit with us
and share quiet moments.
You speak your Word to us,
and we are changed.
You feed us with the energy of your love,
and give us courage.
So we sit with you;
we listen to you;
and, changed,
we go forth with your good news
into this world.
Come and find the quiet centre
in the crowded life we lead.
find the room for hope to enter,
find the frame where we are freed:
Clear the chaos and the clutter,
clear our eyes that we can see
all the things that really matter,
be at peace, and simply be.
Silence is a friend who claims us,
cools the heat and slows the pace,
God it is who speaks and names us,
knows our being, touches base,
making space within our thinking,
lifting shades to show the sun,
raising courage when we’re shrinking,
finding scope for faith begun.
In the Spirit let us travel,
open to each other’s pain,
let our loves and fears unravel,
celebrate the space we gain:
There’s a place for deepest dreaming,
there’s a time for heart to care,
in the Spirit’s lively scheming
there is always room to spare.

God, you have gifted us all differently.
May we always be willing
to offer ourselves to you
to complete your work of love on earth
until all are one in you.
Amen
The peace of our God be with you.
And also with you.

Jesus calls us here to meet him
as, through word and song and prayer,
we affirm God’s promised presence
where his people live and care.
Praise the God who keeps his promise;
praise the Son who calls us friends;
praise the Spirit who, among us,
to our hopes and fears attends.
Jesus calls us to confess him
Word of Life and Lord of All,
sharer of our flesh and frailness
saving all who fail or fall.
Tell his holy human story;
tell his tales that all may hear;
tell the world that Christ in glory
came to earth to meet us here.
Jesus calls us to each other:
found in him are no divides.
Race and class and sex and language
such are barriers he derides.
Join the hand of friend and stranger;
join the hands of age and youth;
join the faithful and the doubter
in their common search for truth.

Now as they went on their way, he entered a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him. She had a sister named Mary, who sat at Jesus’s feet and listened to what he was saying. But Martha was distracted by her many tasks, so she came to him and asked, “Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her, then, to help me.” But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things, but few things are needed—indeed only one. Mary has chosen the better part, which will not be taken away from her.”
May the Spirit of God
open our eyes to see,
our ears to hear,
and our hearts to understand.
Come as you are: that’s how I want you.
Come as you are: feel quite at home,
Close to my heart, loved and forgiven.
Come as you are: why stand alone?
’No need to fear, love sets no limits;
no need to fear, love never ends;
don’t run away shamed and disheartened,
rest in my love, trust me again.
’I came to call sinners, not just the righteous;
I came to bring peace, not to condemn.
Each time you fail to live by my promise,
why do you think I’d love you the less?
‘Come as you are; that’s how I love you;
come as you are, trust me again.
Nothing can change the love that I bear you;
all will be well, just come as you are.’

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name,
your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in Heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen.

Refrain:
May our lives and prayers be one
as our hopes shape the roads we walk on.
And when our work and our dreaming’s done.
May our lives and our prayers be one.
Within the rhythm of our days
we take the time to muse and pray.
The fears we face, the tears we taste
we view in light of holy grace.
May our lives and prayers be one
as our hopes shape the roads we walk on.
And when our work and our dreaming’s done.
May our lives and our prayers be one.
We name our deepest hopes and dreams
for those we love and all in need.
We picture how the world could be.
We live the change we want to see.
May our lives and prayers be one
as our hopes shape the roads we walk on.
And when our work and our dreaming’s done.
May our lives and our prayers be one.
