Youth Service Sunday
Welcome to Brougham Place Uniting Church.
We acknowledge the Kaurna people as the traditional carers of the land
on which our church is built.
As you wait for worship to begin, please turn your phone to silent.
Naa marni? (Are you all
good?)*
Marni Ai! (Good I
am)
How are we to find comfort in God?
With a question so open ended how are to have an answer
A question so open ended can mean many things.
For one an answer may be different to another.
One certainty with the question,
is we can and turn and rest in God’s quiet presence,
and help others to do the same.
Let us come together to rest today.
Dear God,
Thank you for bringing us together today.
Open our hearts to hear the perspectives and challenges of young people
in our community.
Help to understand when we find it difficult.
Meet us where we are today.
Amen.
Come as you are, that’s how I want you.
Come as you are, feel quite at home,
Close to my heart, loved and forgiven.
Come as you are, why stand alone?
No need to fear, love sets no limits;
no need to fear, love never ends;
don’t run away shamed and disheartened,
rest in my love, trust me again.
I came to call sinners, not just the righteous;
I came to bring peace, not to condemn.
Each time you fail to live by my promise,
why do you think I’d love you the less?
Come as you are; that’s how I love you;
come as you are, trust me again.
Nothing can change the love that I bear you;
all will be well, just come as you are.
Loving Mother,
We bring to you our prejudices and biases,
our need to be heard
that often stifles the voices of our young people.
Faithful Guardian,
We bring to you our fears of change,
our discomfort with letting go of power,
which alienates the most vulnerable in our church.
Justice Bearer,
We bring to you our shame and sorrow,
Our regrets that keep us up at night,
that hold us back from trying again.
The peace of our God be with you.
And also with you.

Children and Young People may go downstairs for Sunday School and Youth. Parents, you are welcome to join your child in Sunday School if you feel your child may need your assistance. Alternatively, you may wish for your child to remain with you for the duration of worship. Activity packs are available at the entrances.
My Jesus, my Saviour Lord, there is none like you;
all of my days I want to praise
the wonders of your mighty love.
My comfort, my shelter, tower of refuge and strength,
let every breath, all that I am,
never cease to worship you.
Chorus
Shout to the Lord, all the earth
let us sing, power and majesty,
praise to the King.
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
at the sound of your name.
I sing for joy at the work of your hands;
For ever I’ll love you, for ever I’ll stand.
Nothing compares to the promise I have in you!
At that time Jesus said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”
“Come to me, all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
May the Spirit of God open our eyes to see, our ears to hear,
and our hearts to understand.
Please join in to sing the Chorus:
No man, no woman can walk this road alone,
bind us together, oh Lord.
No man, no woman can walk this road alone,
bind us together, oh Lord.
And now with the confidence of the children of God, let us pray the prayer Jesus taught us saying…
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name,
your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in Heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen.
To give electronically please go to bpuc.org/give
Alternatively, there is an offering bowl near the lectern on the left-hand side as you exit the church.
There is but one story: one God, one Savior, and one people. Go from
this place knowing that you are not alone — that you are part of the
body of Christ. Go from this place and share God’s love so that all the
world may unite.
Amen.
May the road rise up to meet you,
May the wind be always at your back,
May the sun shine warm upon your face and,
May the rain fall soft upon your field,
Until we meet again,
May you be held in the palms of God’s hand.
Until we meet again,
May you be held in the palms of God’s hand.
It is appropriate to depart during the Extroit if you wish
Come and share morning tea together, in the basement. There are stairs behind the organ and a ramp between the church and the car park. All are welcome!
Thank you for joining us for worship!
If you would like to get in touch or request a prayer, please make use
of the Contact Cards in the pews and next to the Offering Bowl.
