Preacher: Rev Linda Driver
Pentecost 18. Green
We acknowledge the Kaurna people as the traditional carers of the land on which our church is built.
As you wait for worship to begin, please turn your phone to silent.
Naa marni? (Are you all
good?)
Marni Ai! (Good I
am)
Come Sing Praises (Together in Song 53. Perry / Calypso Carol)
Come, let us praise God in this land.
Come, let us praise God in this community.
Come, let us praise God in this place.
Come..
Let us worship God!
Creator God,
you have placed us here in this community.
You have given us neighbours, colleagues and friends.
As we worship this morning,
may we keep the well-being of this community
at the forefront of our minds.
Let us seek the welfare of this place
and work for the protection of the vulnerable and marginalised.
In Jesus’ name, we pray,
Amen.
Let all the earth come join the song
and join the dance for all belong
creation beats with willing hearts
so come on saints, let’s play our part
Come one, come all
to life that’s whole
come one, come all
to love that’s full
The hills and rivers sound their praise
and we join in for our God reigns
come to the table eat your fill
come rest by living waters still
Come one, come all
to life that’s whole
come one, come all
to love that’s full
So take your place and know you’re loved
and spread the word, for there’s enough
to know our God and truly live
creation was made for this
Come one, come all
to life that’s whole
come one, come all
to love that’s full
Come one, come all
to life that’s whole
come one, come all
to love that’s full
So take your place and know you’re loved
and spread the word for there’s enough
to know our God and truly live
creation was made for this
The peace of our God be with you.
And also with you.

All Around Is Holy Ground (Somerville)
The prophet Jeremiah sent a letter from Jerusalem to the few surviving
elders among the exiles, to the priests and the prophets, and to all the
people Nebuchadnezzar had taken to Babylon from Jerusalem.
The Lord of heavenly forces, the God of Israel, proclaims to all the
exiles I have carried off from Jerusalem to Babylon: Build houses and
settle down; cultivate gardens and eat what they produce. Get married
and have children; then help your sons find wives and your daughters
find husbands in order that they too may have children. Increase in
number there so that you don’t dwindle away. Promote the welfare of the
city where I have sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, because
your future depends on its welfare.
On the way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria
and Galilee. As he entered a village, ten men with skin diseases
approached him. Keeping their distance from him, they raised their
voices and said, “Jesus, Master, show us mercy!”
When Jesus saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” As
they left, they were cleansed. One of them, when he saw that he had been
healed, returned and praised God with a loud voice. He fell on his face
at Jesus’ feet and thanked him. He was a Samaritan. Jesus replied,
“Weren’t ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? No one returned to
praise God except this foreigner?” Then Jesus said to him, “Get up and
go. Your faith has healed you.”
From this shines forth the Word of God.
Thanks be to God.
Together in Song 473
Community of Christ,
who make the Cross your own,
live out your creed and risk your life
for God alone:
the God who wears your face,
to whom all worlds belong,
whose children are of every race
and every song.
Community of Christ,
look past the Church’s door
and see the refugee, the hungry,
and the poor.
Take hands with the oppressed,
the jobless in your street,
take towel and water, that you wash
your neighbour’s feet.
Community of Christ,
through whom the word must sound –
cry out for justice and for peace
the whole world round:
disarm the powers that war
and all that can destroy,
turn bombs to bread, and tears of
anguish into joy.
When menace melts away,
so shall God’s will be done,
the climate of the world be peace
and Christ its Sun;
our currency be love
and kindliness our law,
our food and faith be shared as one
for evermore.
And now with the confidence of the children of God, let us pray the prayer Jesus taught us saying…
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name,
your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in Heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen.
To give electronically please go to bpuc.org/give
Alternatively, there is an offering bowl near the lectern on the left-hand side as you exit the church.
Together in Song 607
O Master, grant that I may never seek
so much to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved, as to love with all my soul.
O Master, grant that I may never seek
so much to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved, as to love with all my soul.
As we leave this place today,
may we be conscious of this community.
May we continue to pray for its well-being,
may we contribute our time, talents and energy
to projects that support flourishing,
for all who live here—plant, animal and human—
and for all those who visit or pass through.
In the name of Christ,
Amen
