Lighting of the Candles

We sing: We Are Marching in the Light of God

1.

We are marching in the light of God,

we are marching in the light of God.

We are marching in the light of God,

we are marching in the light of God.

We are marching, marching, we are marching, Oo

we are marching in the light of God.

We are marching, marching, we are marching, Oo

we are marching in the light of God.

2.

We are living in the love of God…

3.

We are moving in the power of God…

4.

We are marching in the light of God…

Call to Worship

Come, you who remember.

We come, holding stories of love.

Come, you who grieve.

We come, carrying both sorrow and gratitude.

Come, you who are part of this story.

We come, among the saints.

Opening Prayer

God of all generations,

you have surrounded us

with a great cloud of witnesses—

people who have loved,

who have struggled,

who have trusted you in ways both visible and hidden.

As we remember them,

draw us deeper into your love.

Help us to see ourselves

as part of this unfolding story.

Amen.

Prayer of Confession

God of mercy,

we confess that we forget we are part of something larger.

We feel alone,

or disconnected,

or unsure that our lives matter.

We forget that love has been passed to us,

again and again,

through the lives of others.

Forgive us.

Restore our sense of belonging.

Remind us that we are not alone.

A moment of silent reflection.

Words of Grace

Hear this:

We are God’s beloved children.

Not someday

but now.

We are held within a story of love

that stretches across generations.

We are not alone.

We are part of the communion of saints.

Thanks be to God.

Passing of the Peace

The peace of our God be with you.

And also with you.

Communion

Invitation

Great Prayer of Thanksgiving

May God be with you.

And also with you.

Lift up your hearts!

We lift them up to our God.

Let us give thanks to God our Creator.

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

Holy God, maker of all that is, …

Words of Institution

In your love, nobody is forgotten, and nobody disappears.

We remember. We belong. We are one in Christ.

Send your Holy Spirit on us…

Now with all of your beloved saints,

who have journeyed with you before us,

who join in this moment and those to come,

we shout,

blessing: Blessing!

glory: Glory!

wisdom: Wisdom!

thanksgiving: Thanksgiving!

honour: Honour!

power: Power!

might: Might!

be to you, our God, forever and ever.

Amen. Amen!

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be Your name,

your Kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as in Heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins,

as we forgive those who sin against us.

Save us from the time of trial

and deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours

now and forever. Amen.

The Breaking of the Bread

We break this bread

and take this cup

so that we can all share in the life of Christ.

The gifts of God for the people of God.

Scripture Readings

Revelation 7:9–17

After this I looked, and there was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, robed in white, with palm branches in their hands. They cried out in a loud voice, saying,

“Salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne and to the Lamb!”

And all the angels stood around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, singing,

“Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom

and thanksgiving and honor

and power and might

be to our God forever and ever! Amen.”

Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, “Who are these, robed in white, and where have they come from?” I said to him, “Sir, you are the one who knows.” Then he said to me, “These are they who have come out of the great ordeal; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

For this reason they are before the throne of God

and worship him day and night within his temple,

and the one who is seated on the throne will shelter them.

They will hunger no more and thirst no more;

the sun will not strike them,

nor any scorching heat,

for the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd,

and he will guide them to springs of the water of life,

and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.”

1 John 3:1–3

See what love the Father has given us, that we should be called children of God, and that is what we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is this: when he is revealed, we will be like him, for we will see him as he is. And all who have this hope in him purify themselves, just as he is pure.

Matthew 5:1–12

When Jesus saw the crowds, he went up the mountain, and after he sat down, his disciples came to him. And he began to speak and taught them, saying:

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

“Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.

“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

“Blessed are the merciful, for they will receive mercy.

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.

“Blessed are those who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

“Blessed are you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

For the Word of God beyond us,

for the Word of God among us,

for the Word of God within us,

Thanks be to God.

Message

Prayers of the People

Loving God,

we bring before you the needs of your world.

We pray for places torn apart by war and violence,

and for all who long for peace.

God of love, hear our prayer.

We pray for our neighbours in North Adelaide and across this city,

for all who are sick, lonely or struggling,

and for those we hold in our hearts today.

God of love, hear our prayer.

We pray for the Church,

that we might live as a community of saints,

embodying mercy, justice, and peace.

God of love, hear our prayer.

Remembering the Saints

God of the living and the remembered,

we give thanks for those who have shaped us,

for their love, their courage, their presence.

We remember with thanks those who have died:

Mary Philp

Barbara Sibley

Frances Porter,

…

(Other names may be spoken aloud, then a time of silence.)

We pray for those who grieve,

for whom memory is tender or heavy.

Hold them in your comfort.

We pray for those who feel forgotten,

remind them they are held in your story.

And we pray for ourselves,

that our lives might be remembered, not for greatness,

but for love.

Amen.

We sing: Here at Journey’s End

1.

Here at journey’s end we meet you:

Lord, hear our prayer.

In the faith of Christ we greet you:

Lord, hear our prayer.

With your gentle Spirit, tend us,

with the Saviour’s love, befriend us,

strength and peace and comfort send us:

Lord, hear our prayer.

2.

For the blessings God gave to them,

thanks be to God.

For the blessings God gave through them,

thanks be to God.

For the memories we treasure,

times of struggle, times of pleasure,

grace bestowed in generous measure,

thanks be to God.

3.

Death must come, but life comes after:

all shall be well.

We will trust, through tears and laughter:

all shall be well.

Now in Christ our friends are sleeping,

though we still need time for weeping,

all are held in God’s safe-keeping:

all shall be well.

Sending Forth and Benediction

Go now,

held within the great cloud of witnesses.

Go, remembering the love that formed you.

Go, becoming part of that love for others.

May the God who holds all generations,

Christ who walks among the saints,

and the Spirit who keeps love alive

go with you,

now and always.

Amen.

We sing: Shalom to You Now

Shalom to you now, shalom, my friends.

May God’s full mercies bless you, my friends.

In all your living and through your loving,

Christ be your shalom, Christ be your shalom.

(Sing twice)
