Brougham Place Uniting Church
Kardlayirdi Karnungga
A Light on the Hill
July 5, 2026
Preacher: Rev Dr Ian Price
Sixth Sunday after Pentecost. Green
Welcome to Brougham Place Uniting Church.
We acknowledge the Kaurna people as the traditional carers of the land
on which our church is built.
As you wait for worship to begin, please turn
your phone to silent.
Be still and know that I am God,
and there is none beside me.
Be still and know that I am God
and there is none beside me.
I am the one who calls you my friends,
and there is none beside me.
I am the one who calls you my friends,
and there is none beside me.
I am the one whose love never fails …
I am the one who says, ‘Follow me’ …
We are not alone; we live in God’s world.
We believe in God:
who has created and is creating;
who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new;
who works in us and others by the Spirit.
We trust in God.
We are called to be the Church:
to celebrate God’s presence;
to love and serve others;
to seek justice and resist evil;
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.
Thanks be to God.
To you, family and friends gathered here today, will you maintain a life f worship and teaching, witness and service, so that Georgia Rose and all the children among us may grow in the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the knowledge and love of God?
With God’s help,
we will live out our baptism as a loving community in Christ:
nurturing one another in faith,
upholding one another in prayer,
and encouraging one another in service,
until Christ comes.
Strengthen and hold firm all who have pledged to support Georgia and may we always lead her to embrace faith in Christ, in whose name we pray. Amen.
May the feet of God walk with you
And His hand hold you tight
May the eye of God rest on you
And His ear hear your cry
May the smile of God be for you
And His breath give you life
May the Child of God grow in you
And His love bring you home.
(repeat once)

The peace of God be with you
And also with you.
(Please exchange a sign of peace with one another with a gesture of a hand on your heart.)
Kneels at the feet of his friends,
silently washes their feet:
master who acts as a slave to them.
Yesu, Yesu,
fill us with your love,
show us how to serve
the neighbours we have from you.
Neighbours are wealthy and poor,
varied in colour and race,
neighbours are near us and far away.
Yesu, Yesu,
fill us with your love,
show us how to serve
the neighbours we have from you.
These are the ones we should serve,
these are the ones we should love;
all these are neighbours to us and you.
Yesu, Yesu,
fill us with your love,
show us how to serve
the neighbours we have from you.
Loving puts us on our knees,
silently washing their feet,
this is the way we should live with you.
Yesu, Yesu,
fill us with your love,
show us how to serve
the neighbours we have from you.
The ever-present Christ is full of compassion and love.
All who turn to him are free to live in his grace and power.
So, know deep in your being, we are forgiven people.
Thanks be to God.
May God be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts!
We lift them up to our God.
Let us give thanks to God our Creator.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
It is right to give our thanks and praise…
… And so we raise our voices,
together with heaven and earth,
your people throughout all time and in all places,
and all of creation, saying:
Holy, holy, holy God, of all creation and life,
Heaven and earth are full of your glory,
Hosanna in the highest!
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of God.
Hosanna in the highest!
Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin against us.
Save us from the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen.
We break bread together and renew the body of Christ.
We share the cup together and become signs of new life.
The gifts of God for the people of God.
Thanks be to God.

Children may go downstairs for Sunday School. Parents, you are welcome to join your child in Sunday School if you feel your child may need your assistance. Alternatively, you may wish for your child to remain with you for the duration of worship.
At that time Jesus said, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent and have revealed them to infants; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
Come to me, all you who are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”
(Amanda will sing the first verse and then and then the congregation will join to sing the whole)
I heard the voice of Jesus say,
’Come unto me and rest;
lay down, O weary one, lay down
your head upon my breast.’
I came to Jesus as I was,
weary and worn and sad;
I found in him a resting-place,
and he has made me glad.
I heard the voice of Jesus say,
’Behold, I freely give
the living water; thirsty one,
stoop down and drink and live.’
I came to Jesus, and I drank
of that life-giving stream;
my thirst was quenched, my soul revived,
and now I live in him.
’I am this dark world’s light;
look unto me, your morn shall rise,
and all your day be bright.’
I looked to Jesus, and I found
in him my star, my sun;
and in that light of life I’ll walk
till travelling days are done.
In the silence, we bring other weary ones close to our hearts.
Silence is held.
We pray, trusting in your ongoing grace.
Grant rest to the weary. Amen.
To give electronically please go to bpuc.org/give
Alternatively, there is an offering bowl near the lectern on the left-hand side as you exit the church.
Chorus:
We will walk with you at the edges,
we will die with you on the crossroads,
we will live in your dangerous places,
we will love.
We will risk with you taking chances,
we will stand with you facing evil,
we will live in your dangerous places,
we will love.
Come Lord Jesus Christ hear our prayer,
come now living friend please draw near.
Alone, we feel unsure and so afraid.
Calling us to live by your grace,
calling us to leave all that’s safe.
Our lives we choose to lose so you may save.
Chorus:
We will walk with you at the edges,
we will die with you on the crossroads,
we will live in your dangerous places,
we will love.
We will risk with you taking chances,
we will stand with you facing evil,
we will live in your dangerous places,
we will love.
Stepping out we call on your name,
knowing you have healed all our shame.
Our God, your precious love has made us whole.
Gifting us with power to set free,
Holy Spirit, use even me.
Renew all that I am
so I may see.
Chorus:
We will walk with you at the edges,
we will die with you on the crossroads,
we will live in your dangerous places,
we will love.
We will risk with you taking chances,
we will stand with you facing evil,
we will live in your dangerous places,
we will love.
Come and share morning tea together, in the basement. There are stairs behind the organ and a ramp between the church and the car park. All are welcome!
