Call to Worship

As we gather today,
may we remember that
God is everywhere
and God is in all things.
As we join in worship today,
may we take time to dwell in God’s presence.

Opening Prayer

We sing: From All Who Dwell

  1. From all who dwell below the skies
    let the Creator’s praise arise;
         Hallelujah!
Let the Redeemer’s name be sung
through every land, by every tongue,
         Hallelujah!

  2. Eternal are your mercies, Lord,
    eternal truth attends your word:
         Hallelujah!
Your praise shall sound from shore to shore
till suns shall rise and set no more.
         Hallelujah!

Together in Song 72. Isaac Watts.

Prayer of Confession

Gracious God,
We bring before you today all the things that lay heavy on our hearts:
those things that we have done, or not done,
those things that may have hurt someone else,
or ourselves,
or you.

(A time of silence)

Gracious God,
Hear our prayers. Amen.

Words of Assurance/Grace

Hear these words of grace:
as far as the East is from the west,
so far are our sins removed from us.
Thanks be to God. Amen.

Passing of the Peace

The peace of our God be with you.
And also with you.

Children’s Time

We sing: For Everyone Born

  1. For everyone born, a place at the table,
for everyone born, clean water and bread,
a shelter, a space, a safe place for growing,
for everyone born, a star overhead.

And God will delight when we are creators of justice
         and joy, compassion and peace:
yes, God will delight when we are creators of justice,
         justice and joy!

  2. For young and for old, a place at the table,
a voice to be heard, a part in the song,
the hands of a child in hands that are wrinkled,
for young and for old, the right to belong.

And God will delight when we are creators of justice
         and joy, compassion and peace:
yes, God will delight when we are creators of justice,
         justice and joy!

  3. For everyone born, a place at the table,
to live without fear, and simply to be,
to work, to speak out to witness and worship,
for everyone born, the right to be free.

And God will delight when we are creators of justice
         and joy, compassion and peace:
yes, God will delight when we are creators of justice,
         justice and joy!

Communion

The children are invited to sit with their families.

Words of Institution

Great Prayer of Thanksgiving

Let us give our thanks to God:

May God be with you.
And also with you.
Lift up your hearts!
We lift them up to our God.
Let us give thanks to God our Creator.
It is right to give our thanks and praise.

For this land…
and the First Peoples
We give thanks!

For the Second Peoples
We give thanks!
For the culturally and linguistically diverse peoples
We give thanks!
For the seeds and fruits of this Land
We give thanks!
For the work of those who have tended the earth and prepared the feast
We give thanks!
For the One who breathes life into this feast
We give thanks!

Together with all of creation
we sing to the one who has provided all we need:
Holy, holy, holy God of all that is,
All that was and all that will be.
Heaven and earth are full of your glory,
Hosanna in the highest.

For your kindness …

…Draw us together as one,
united in hope,
as we worship and honour you.
Through Christ, with Christ, in Christ,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
all honour and glory is yours, God of Love,
for ever and ever, Amen.

The Lord’s Prayer

Let us pray together in the words that Jesus taught us:

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be Your name,

your Kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as in Heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins,

as we forgive those who sin against us.

Save us from the time of trial

and deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours

now and forever. Amen.

The Breaking of the Bread

We break this bread
and take this cup
so that we can all share in the life of Christ.
The gifts of God for the people of God.

We sing: Glory

Glory to the King of kings:
majesty, power and strength to the Lord of lords. (repeat)

  1. Holy one, all creation crowns
    you King of kings,
holy one, King of kings, Lord of lords, holy one!

Glory to the King of kings:
majesty, power and strength to the Lord of lords. (repeat)

  2. Jesus, Lord, with eyes unveiled
    we will see your throne,
Jesus, Prince of Peace, Son of God, Immanuel!

Glory to the King of kings,
Majesty, power and strength to the Lord of lords.
Power and strength to the Lord of lords,
power and strength to the Lord of lords.

Scripture Reading: Psalm 30

A psalm. A song. For the dedication of the temple. Of David.

I will exalt you, Lord,
for you lifted me out of the depths
and did not let my enemies gloat over me.
Lord my God, I called to you for help,
    and you healed me. You, Lord, brought me up from the realm of the dead;
you spared me from going down to the pit.

Sing the praises of the Lord, you his faithful people;
    praise his holy name.
For his anger lasts only a moment,
    but his favor lasts a lifetime;
weeping may stay for the night,
but rejoicing comes in the morning.

When I felt secure, I said,
    “I will never be shaken.”
Lord, when you favored me,
    you made my royal mountain stand firm;
but when you hid your face,
    I was dismayed.

To you, Lord, I called;
to the Lord I cried for mercy:
“What is gained if I am silenced,
if I go down to the pit?
Will the dust praise you?
    Will it proclaim your faithfulness?
Hear, Lord, and be merciful to me;
    Lord, be my help.”

You turned my wailing into dancing;
you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent.
Lord my God, I will praise you forever.

May the Spirit of God open our eyes to see, our ears to hear,
and our hearts to understand.

Message – part 1

Scripture Reading: Revelation 5:11-14

Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and ten thousand times ten thousand. They encircled the throne and the living creatures and the elders. In a loud voice they were saying:

“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!”

Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, saying:

“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb
be praise and honor and glory and power,
for ever and ever!”

The four living creatures said, “Amen,” and the elders fell down and worshiped..

Message – part 2

We sing: Comfort, Comfort

    Comfort, comfort all my people
with the comfort of my Word.
Speak it tender to my people:
all your sins are taken away.

  1. Though your tears be rivers running,
though your tears be an ocean full,
though you cry with the hurt of living:
    comfort, comfort.
    Every valley shall be lifted,
    every mountain shall be low,
every rough place will be smoother:
    comfort, comfort.

        Comfort, comfort all my people
with the comfort of my Word.
Speak it tender to my people:
all your sins are taken away.

  2. Though your eyes see only darkness,
though your eyes can see no light,
though your eyes see pain and sorrow:
    comfort, comfort.
Every night will have its morning,
every pain will have an end,
    every burden will be lightened:
    comfort, comfort.

        Comfort, comfort all my people
with the comfort of my Word.
Speak it tender to my people:
all your sins are taken away.

Prayers of the People

Loving God, today, we pray for those people in our faith community:
We pray for those who are celebrating.
We pray for those who are grieving.
We pray for those who are starting something new.
We pray for those who are approaching an ending.
We pray for those who have what they need.
We pray for those whose needs are not being filled.
May we meet Christ
in each and every person we meet here.

Gracious God, today, we pray for those people in the wider community:
We pray for those who are celebrating.
We pray for those who are grieving.
We pray for those who are starting something new.
We pray for those who are approaching an ending.
We pray for those who have what they need.
We pray for those whose needs are not being filled.
May your love touch those we know
and those we don’t know today.

In the name of Christ,
Amen.
