John Maddern in 2008
John Maddern grew up in Blackwood before training for the Methodist Ministry during the early 60’s. Following Ordination appointments included city and country congregations and a stint as University Chaplain. Running parallel to these appointments was a 25 year term as an Army Reserve Chaplain.

In 1989 John was installed as Moderator of the Uniting Church in South Australia. In 2003 he took up an appointment with the Methodist Church in Britain in the Gosport-Fareham Circuit. He retired in 2006 but has come out of retirement temporarily and is thoroughly enjoying a brief time with Brougham Place.

His primary interests have been sporting interests – football, cricket and tennis in early days, golf and bush-walking in latter days. He is married to Heather. They have three adult children and five grand-children.

John is the supply minister from July 2008 to December 2008.
