Prelude and Lighting of the Candle

Welcome

Call to Worship

Family of God,
come and hear these words:
we are welcomed and loved by God.

Open your hearts!

Let the Spirit murmur in your being
and Christ guide you in your living.

Come, let us gather again,
connected together, while being apart;

worshipping God with gladness,
attentive to God’s presence,
resting in God’s abundant love for us all.

We Sing: Welcome

  1. Let’s walk together for a while
    and ask where we begin
to build a world where love can grow
    and hope can enter in.
To be the hands of healing
and to plant the seeds of peace,

singing welcome, welcome to this place,
you’re invited to come and know God’s grace.
All are welcome, the love of God to share
’cause all of us are welcome here,
all are welcome in this place.

  2. Let’s talk together of a time
when we will share a feast,
where pride and power kneel to serve
    the lonely and the least,
and joy will set the table
as we join our hands to pray,

singing welcome, welcome to this place,
you’re invited to come and know God’s grace.
All are welcome, the love of God to share
’cause all of us are welcome here,
all are welcome in this place.

  3. Let’s dream together of the day
when earth and heav’n are one,
a city built of love and light,
    the new Jerusalem,
where our mourning turns to dancing,
    ev’ry creature lifts its voice,

singing welcome, welcome to this place,
you’re invited to come and know God’s grace.
All are welcome, the love of God to share
’cause all of us are welcome here,
all are welcome in this place.

Prayer of Confession and Thanksgiving

Passing of the Peace

The peace of our God be with you.
And also with you.

We Sing: The Peace of the Earth

The peace of the earth be with you,
the peace of the heavens too.
The peace of the rivers be with you,
the peace of the oceans too.
Deep peace falling over you.
God’s peace, growing in you.

Sermon

We Sing: In the Love of God We Gather

  1. In the love of God we gather,
    wooing, fulsome, strong and free.
Through the veil of faith we enter
    drawn and held by Mystery.
Wounded by the trials of living,
    buoyed by hope that will not end;
    We, your people of compassion,
lift our eyes and rise again.

  2. T’ward the light of Christ we open,
searching for his paths of peace.
    Hearts affected, grace resurgent
    lived and breathed creatively:
    Parent, poet, teacher, farmer –
calls to share the Gift made known:
    Currents of the deepest river,
    coursing outward to the sea.

  3. Through the beauty of the spirit
by a love that moves the stars,
we will find our truth and bearing
in God’s love-song for this world.
    Justice, mercy, peace and daring;
these shall be our heart’s desire!
    Folded into acts of service,
    faith refined through holy fire.

Prayers of the People

And now with the confidence of the children of God we pray:

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be Your name,

your Kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as in Heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins,

as we forgive those who sin against us.

Save us in the time of trial

and deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power

and the glory are yours

now and forever. Amen.

We Sing: Now Thank We All Our God

  1. Now thank we all our God
with hearts and hands and voices,
    who wondrous things has done,
    in whom the world rejoices;
    who from our mothers’ arms
has blessed us on our way
    with countless gifts of love,
    and still is ours today.

  2. O may this bounteous God
through all our life be near us,
    with ever joyful hearts
and blessèd peace to cheer us.
Lord, keep us in your grace,
    and guide us when perplexed,
and free us from all harm
in this world and the next.

  3. All praise and thanks to God
    who reigns in highest heaven,
    to Father and to Son
    and Spirit now be given:
    the one eternal God,
    whom heaven and earth adore,
    who ever was, is now,
    and shall be ever more.
