Prelude

How Lovely Are Thy Dwellings by Samuel Liddle

Welcome

Lighting of the Candles and Introit

How Lovely is Your Dwelling Place

Call to Worship

Prayer

Holy God,
we come to centre ourselves in your presence,
for in you we find home.

Jesus Christ,
you are living water, renewing and restoring our lives,
refresh us in our being and call us to follow your way.

Holy Spirit,
move among us that we may be attentive of your presence,
aware that we are not alone,
for you accompany us on the way,
and we share this journey together.

We offer this time,
set apart to be with you, to worship you, to be together,
and we lift our voices in praise.
Amen.

We Sing: Let Us Build a House

  1. Let us build a house where love can dwell
    and all can safely live,
a place where saints and children tell
    how hearts learn to forgive.
Built of hopes and dreams and visions,
    rock of faith and vault of grace;
here the love of Christ shall end divisions:

    Refrain:
All are welcome, all are welcome,
all are welcome in this place.

  2. Let us build a house where prophets speak,
and words are strong and true,
where all God’s children dare to seek
    to dream God’s reign anew.
Here the cross shall stand as witness
    and as symbol of God’s grace;
here as one we claim the faith of Jesus:

    Refrain:
All are welcome, all are welcome,
all are welcome in this place.

  3. Let us build a house where all are named,
    their songs and visions heard
and loved and treasured, taught and claimed
    as words within the Word.
Built of tears and cries and laughter,
prayers of faith and songs of grace,
let this house proclaim from floor to rafter:

    Refrain:
All are welcome, all are welcome,
all are welcome in this place.

Baptism of Hamish Dubrich

The Confession of Faith

I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

We Sing: May the Feet of God Walk with You

May the feet of God walk with you,
and his hand hold you tight.
May the eye of God rest on you,
and his ear hear your cry.
May the smile of God be for you,
and his breath give you life.
May the Child of God grow in you,
and his love bring you home.

Friends in Christ, will you promise to maintain a life of worship and teaching, witness and service so that this child and all the children among you may grow in the Grace of Jesus Christ and the knowledge and love of God?

With God’s help, we will live out our baptism
As a loving community in Christ:
Nurturing one another in faith,
Upholding one another in prayer,
And encouraging one another in service
until Christ comes. Amen.

Sermon

We Sing: O Christ, Surround Me

  1. God, be the love to search and keep me;
    God be the prayer to move my voice;
God, be the strength to now uphold me.
    O Christ, surround me,
    O Christ, surround me.

  2. Bind to myself the Name of Holy,
    great cloud of witnesses enfold;
    prophets, apostles, angels witness.
    O Christ, surround me,
    O Christ, surround me.

  3. Walking behind to hem my journey,
going ahead to light my way,
and from beneath, above and all ways,
    O Christ, surround me,
    O Christ, surround me.

  4. Christ in the eyes of all who see me,
Christ in the ears that hear my voice,
Christ in the hearts of all who know me:
    O Christ, surround me,
    O Christ, surround me.

Gratitude for Gifts and Service and Commissioning

There are different gifts,
but it is the same Spirit who gives them.

There are different ways of serving God,
but it is the same Lord who is served.

God works through different people in different ways,
but it is the same God whose purposes
are achieved through them all.

Each one of us is given a gift by the Spirit,
to use for the common good.

During baptism, we as God’s people promise to love, encourage and support our brothers and sisters in faith, that they may grow in the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the knowledge and love of God.
We seek God’s help
to live out our baptism
as a loving community in Christ:
nurturing one another in faith,
upholding one another in prayer,
and encouraging one another in service,
until Christ comes.

Prayers of the People

…And now with the confidence of the children of God, let us pray the prayer Jesus taught us saying:

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be Your name,

your Kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as in Heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins,

as we forgive those who sin against us.

Save us from the time of trial

and deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours

now and forever. Amen.

We Sing: You Shall Go Out With Joy

You shall go out with joy
and be led forth in peace,
and the mountains and the hills
shall break forth in singing.
There’ll be shouts of joy,
and the trees of the fields
shall clap, shall clap their hands,
and the trees of the field shall clap their hands,
and the trees of the field shall clap their hands,
and the trees of the fields shall clap their hands,
and you’ll go out with joy.
