Call to Worship

We come today in joy
for God calls us in love:
we are blessed and favoured.

We come today with hope
for God calls us to a new way:
we are blessed and favoured.

We come today in faith
for God calls us by name:
we are blessed and favoured.

Let us answer God’s call to worship.

Opening Prayer

We Sing: When Out of Poverty is Born

  1. When out of poverty is born
a dream that will not die,
and landless, weary folk find strength
to stand with heads held high,
it’s then we learn from those who wait
    to greet the promised day,
‘The Lord is coming; don’t lose heart.
    Be blest: prepare the way!’

  2. When people wander far from God,
    forget to share their bread,
they find their wealth an empty thing,
    their spirits are not fed.
For only just and tender love
    the hungry soul will stay.
And so God’s prophets echo still ‘
    Be blest: prepare the way!’

  3. When God took flesh and came to earth,
    the world turned upside down,
and in the strength of woman’s faith
the Word of Life was born.
She knew that God would raise the low,
    it pleased her to obey.
Rejoice with Mary in the call,
    ’Be blest: prepare the way!

Sermon

We Sing: Tell Out My Soul

  1. Tell out, my soul, the greatness of the Lord!
    Unnumbered blessings, give my spirit voice;
    tender to me the promise of his word;
in God my Saviour shall my heart rejoice.

  2. Tell out, my soul, the greatness of his name!
    Make known his might, the deeds his arm has done;
    his mercy sure, from age to age the same;
his holy name – the Lord, the Mighty One.

  3. Tell out, my soul, the greatness of his might!
Powers and dominions lay their glory by.
Proud hearts and stubborn wills are put to flight,
the hungry fed, the humble lifted high.

  4. Tell out, my soul, the glories of his word!
Firm is his promise, and his mercy sure.
Tell out, my soul, the greatness of the Lord
to children’s children and for evermore!

Prayers of the People

The Lord’s Prayer

And now with the confidence of the children of God, let us pray the prayer Jesus taught us saying…

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be Your name,
your Kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as in Heaven.
Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
as we forgive those who sin
against us.
Save us in the time of trial
and deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power
and the glory are yours
now and forever. Amen.

We Sing: We Are Marching in the Light of God

  1. We are marching in the light of God,
we are marching in the light of God.
We are marching in the light of God,
we are marching in the light of God.
We are marching, marching, we are marching, Oo
we are marching in the light of God.
We are marching, marching, we are marching, Oo
we are marching in the light of God.

  2. We are loving in the light of God

  3. We are blessing in the light of God

  4. We are going in the love of God
