A Light on the Hill

God of the Heart

When I least expect,
You find me.
When I am unready,
You speak in whispers,
Silent, insistent.
In the heat of the action
Your stillness descends.
In the casual, mindless moment,
You suddenly appear.

When I seek you out,
I may feel nothing,
Yet You are here.
When I call,
You may not answer,
But still I listen.

When I struggle,
You wait for me.
When I resist,
You do not leave.
When I’m prodigal,
You embrace me.
And when pain
And fear are crippling,
You are there.

Sometimes within,
Always around,
Beside and ahead,
Your presence
Is all,
To me.
